Housing Information and Referral Services for HIV+ Charles County, MD Residents
Persons living with HIV who are experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, foreclosure, poor housing conditions, or other housing related problems can contact Housing Counseling Service’s MHAP Program for housing services. MHAP staff will assist HOPWA eligible households develop a plan to respond to housing barriers and explore housing options. Assistance may include: referrals to emergency, transitional housing programs; housing search counseling, budgeting and credit counseling, tenancy rights and responsibilities counseling, and referrals to other housing related programs/services.
Additionally, all housing consumers are encouraged to utilize the wide array of housing services at HCS. Aside from specialized services for people living with HIV/AIDS, HCS offers a wide variety of free counseling, training, and technical assistance to home buyers, homeowners, tenants, and homeless persons. Community based case managers/social workers may also submit a MHAP HOPWA PROGRAM SERVICES REFERRAL FORM on behalf of their client towards accessing housing assistance. Upon receipt of the referral form, HCS will contact the client to assess their housing situation and, as appropriate, schedule an appointment to meet with a MHAP case manager.
