As the price of housing, utilities, food, and transportation continue to skyrocket, and as government resources have become scarcer, area residents are facing increasing insecurity in meeting their basic needs. Since 1972 HCS has provided comprehensive training, counseling, and technical assistance to tenants, homeowners, homebuyers, and people experiencing homelessness; helping them to access and sustain safe and affordable homes….we need your support to continue this work!
HCS serves more than 22,000 households each year:
Offering solutions for tenants facing eviction and displacement and those living with dangerous housing conditions.
Evaluating household budgets to develop short- and long-term housing stability plans.
Negotiating payment plans with landlords, lenders and HOAs to respond to temporary emergencies.
Serving seniors and other homeowners to find solutions for the repair of their homes and to resolve financial challenges that make homeownership risky.
Helping individuals experiencing homelessness to identify emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent housing solutions.
Preventing foreclosure by engaging the HCS Foreclosure Prevention Hotline, housing counseling and legal support for homeowners.
Establishing viable transitions for tenants and developers when properties are being sold.
Building collaborative partnerships between tenants and landlords to resolve rental delinquencies and improve housing conditions.
Supporting healthy outcomes for veterans and individuals living with HIV/AIDS by preventing and resolving homelessness.
Supporting skill building for first-time homebuyers to ensure they are prepared for the steps needed to purchase and for the rigors of homeownership.
Identifying and resolving barriers to stable homes and helping people to achieve their highest level of housing independence.
Developing tools and supports to ensure that everyone can access safe and healthy homes in which to flourish and grow.
