Housing Counseling Services, Inc. seeks an energetic self-starter to conduct case management activities and provide support services to households receiving housing and\/or financial services from Housing Counseling Services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRIMARY DUTIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides comprehensive housing case management to low-income households identified as homeless or at risk for homelessness towards stabilizing their housing circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>Complete comprehensive assessments and develop housing plans to identify barriers to housing and specific housing tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Assist households rapidly respond to housing instability through identifying viable permanent and temporary housing options.<\/li>\n<li>Connect households to services to support long term self-sufficiency as well as advocate on their behalf with landlords, social service agencies, and other service providers.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct follow-up with households to ensure their housing situation remains stable.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate written and computer-based client files.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree with specialized professional experience in case management\/social work;<\/li>\n<li>Strong ability to work independently and as a team player exercising mature judgment;<\/li>\n<li>Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to complete multiple tasks in timely manner;<\/li>\n<li>Must have excellent problem solving skills and able to develop innovate solutions;<\/li>\n<li>Experience providing supportive services to at-risk populations;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to respond to multiple emergency needs with patience and diligence;<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a variety of professionals including bankers, realtors, contractors, landlords;<\/li>\n<li>Must maintain and execute confidential information;<\/li>\n<li>Strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to translate technical information into layman\u2019s terms;<\/li>\n<li>Sensitivity to the needs within the community and to individual clients;<\/li>\n<li>Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply (not required).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HCS is an equal opportunity employer and affirmatively seeks diversity in its workforce. Housing Counseling Services, Inc. seeks an energetic self-starter to conduct case management activities and provide support services to households receiving housing and\/or financial services from Housing Counseling Services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRIMARY DUTIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Housing Counseling Services (HCS) seeks an energetic self-starter to provide outreach, training, and technical assistance to low and moderate-income District Cooperative Members and Condominium Owners. The Resident Services Specialist will provide training, counseling and technical assistance to limited equity cooperatives, and troubled condominiums and cooperatives. The Specialist will work closely with Coop and Condo associations to encourage resident engagement and to develop training curriculums and technical assistance tailored to the specific needs of the associations. The specialist will assure that the associations are knowledgeable on all applicable housing laws and policies, all reporting requirements and all available tax credits. The specialist will work with associations to assure that they have the proper lines of communication between both management companies, and DC government agencies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop training manuals and curriculum, coordinate and present training workshops and courses.<\/li>\n<li>Provide ongoing technical assistance to condos\/coops and tenant associations. Develop working relationships with developers, contractors, lenders, attorneys, and others. Provide counseling and referrals to trainees.<\/li>\n<li>Attend coop\/condo membership and board meetings to provide technical assistance. Assist other staff in meeting the needs of HCS clients.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate written and computer-based files.<\/li>\n<li>Research housing topics. Provide community outreach to publicize training programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least three years of specialized professional experience in social work, housing, urban studies, or other related fields (a college degree in a related field will be considered as two years of specialized experience.)<\/li>\n<li>Bilingual Spanish\/English helpful. Excellent public speaking ability.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a variety of people including lenders, contractors, landlords and low and moderate income families from a variety of cultures.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to translate technical information into layman&#8217;s terms.<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate an ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Must be versatile in order to handle a wide variety of duties.<\/li>\n<li>Sensitivity to the needs within the community and to individual clients. Flexible schedule that will require night and Saturday meetings several times a week. Knowledge of housing issues and housing law or capacity to learn.<\/li>\n<li>Background in housing development, real estate practices, financial analysis and cooperative principals helpful.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Computer skills required.<\/li>\n<li>Well organized and ability to prioritized work requirements.
