[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The Metropolitan Housing Access Program (MHAP), is the centralized source for housing services and housing information for persons living with HIV\/AIDS. MHAP offers financial assistance, housing programs, and Housing Information & Referral Services (HIRS) for eligible District of Columbia residents.<\/p>\n

Financial Assistance Programs for HIV+ District of Columbia Residents<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

HCS provides financial assistance to persons living with HIV\/AIDS (PLWH) who are experiencing financial hardship. This assistance is offered through the Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) Program and the Short Term Rental, Mortgage, and Utility (STRMU) Program.\u00a0 Financial assistance can be provided to help with housing related costs, including delinquent rent, mortgage and utility\/telephone bills as well as first month\u2019s rent, and moving costs. Additionally financial assistance can be provided for emergency food, and emergency medication costs.<\/p>\n

The Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) Program application<\/strong> allows community case managers\/social workers to apply for financial assistance on behalf of a person living with HIV\/AIDS. EFA financial assistance is supported by District of Columbia Ryan White Program funding. The EFA Program provides financial assistance in the following area: \u00a0first month\u2019s rent, delinquent rent, delinquent utilities, delinquent telephone bill, moving assistance, emergency food, and emergency medication assistance. PLWH may apply for the EFA Program by contacting the HCS MHAP Program at (202) 667-2681 to schedule an appointment with a HCS Case Manager or a community-based Case Manager\/Social Worker may submit an EFA application on their behalf.<\/p>\n
